Double Majors, Minors

CS students may combine the CS major with other studies in one of the following ways:

1.      Pursue a double major, or

2.      Augment a degree major with a minor

Combinations are possible with virtually all academic departments. Electrical Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Economics, and Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (and more) have all been paired successfully with the CS degree.

Double Majors

A CS student who is at least a 2nd semester junior, who is not pursuing any minor, and whose GPA satisfies one of the following conditions is eligible to apply for a double major.

1.      His/her term GPAs of the last two semesters are both 3.38 or above, or

2.      His/her GPA in the past years is in the top 10% of his/her class.

For a non-CS student who pursues a double major in CS, the requirement to complete the double major in CS is to complete all CS requirements. These include required elementary courses (30 units) and required core courses (20 units); breadth requirements (15 units in the three principal categories A, B, and C); and coverage requirements (21 units of additional EE/CS courses)

Minors

A CS student who is not pursuing any double major is eligible to apply for a minor in a second subject.

For a non-CS student who pursues a minor in CS, the requirement to complete the minor in CS is to earn at least 20 units from the required elementary courses (30 units) and the required core courses (20 units).
